Shopping for your dress and veil will be one of the most important tasks as you plan your wedding. As special as finding that perfect dress will be, the search can be daunting with all the choices out there. Once you find that perfect dress, you’ll want to choose whether or not to wear a veil and then if so, what kind. We’ve put together a list of our favorite styles so you’ll know what to look for when you shop. It will make your hunt much easier if you know a little about what you’re searching for.
Here are some major categories of short veils; we’ll talk more about different veil lengths in another post.
Cage Veils/Fascinators – These are really just fancy headbands or barrettes, with a small piece of lace or tulle that just covers part or all of the face. Some are a simple clip or band while some are extravagant, decorated beads, feathers, or flowers. They’re great for brides with short hair, and casual dresses. We love this one from BHLDN.
Blushers – These are shorter veils that cover your face during the ceremony (until the big kiss!). They are worn alone or attached to a longer veil for the ceremony and then either pushed back or removed entirely. They are traditional, soft, delicate, and lovely, skewing toward a vintage look. Try this blusher from J Crew.
Flyaway Veils – Short, bouncy, sassy. Short tiers give these lots of body at the crown of the head and volume at your shoulders. A new trend in this category is the bubble veil, adding even more bounce. We love that it doesn’t rest on your shoulders at all-so airy and light! Here’s a chic version of a bubble veil from Etsy.
