My name is Anna; I take pictures and write things. In my previous lives, I was a college writing instructor, then a style and design blogger; my site, misosouper.com, was acquired by TheFind in 2010. In my current life, I am a lifestyle photographer and the lead writer at Design Aglow. I like to help people articulate their stories and surround themselves with objects and images that make them happy.
My important facts: although I’ve been married for 12 years, I still fantasize about the wedding my husband and I never had (a subject for a blog post). To me, DIY means have a glass of wine, then order it from Etsy. I liked birds before bird became a dirty word. I have a longstanding, complicated relationship with John Mayer.
I’m Sarah, and here’s what you need to know: I’m disappointed in myself for forgetting the titles of the Caribbean and African-American literary works that I cherished in college, but after my first child was born, my brain expunged certain information to make room for mothering. After my second child was born, I could no longer list all of the states I’ve visited, but I know it’s been a total of 23. Today, as a mom with a blended family of four children, I couldn’t tell you my middle name if I tried. Okay, I’m exaggerating. It’s Elizabeth.
I used to be the editor-in-chief of Garden Design, a beautiful masterpiece of a magazine about landscape architecture. American Photo magazine followed, and today I edit PIX, a digital magazine for photography enthusiasts. I also design with flowers for weddings, events and everyday occasions like birthdays.
One person calls me Mommy; everyone else calls me Rachel. My life is all about the pursuit of beauty, and I tend to find it in music, art, books, nature, and laughter. You can read about that stuff on my website, fade theory. I love words and sentences and ideas, and have been lucky to make my way as a freelance writer and editor. It was many years ago that I gave up making music, but I’ve never stopped listening and seeking out new music to love and hate. It’s not a surprise to anyone that my boyfriend is a musician. My two favorite questions, bland though they may be, are “What are you reading?” and “What kind of music do you listen to?” Sad/proud/weird fact: My son is five and can speak three languages. I speak only one. Sigh.
I am the girl who plays peekaboo with random crying babies in grocery stores, the girl who chases down a stray cat just to give it the rest of my burrito. My name is Lindsey: art history nerd, nanny, and psychology student. I have constructed my life around the art of building, maintaining, understanding, and fixing “connections.” So, it would only seem natural for me to blog about one of the greatest human connections of all, marriage. Like many of you, I have yet to marry. Let us lust after our dream weddings together.
One of my earliest memories is walking with my mom to her cake decorating class. She’s been making wedding cakes for family and friends ever since, including mine of course. It was her love of weddings, and entertaining in general, that has always inspired my own love for hosting parties. And growing up in Wine Country – Sonoma, not Napa (yes, there is a difference and yes, I am biased!) – surrounded by some of the freshest, farm-to-table food and wine certainly doesn’t hurt. So I’m beyond thrilled to be able to share my fave tips and fab finds when it comes to all things food, wine and entertaining so you can eat, drink, and be merry!
