Bridebird officially launched in February 2013, by photographer and writer Anna Powers, as a design and lifestyle magazine for engaged couples. Anna and her friends and colleagues (Sarah and Lindsey) envisioned the site as a thought collective, a platform from which they could spin their wedding fantasies into useful information. Each editor would use their expertise to share with brides the best of what they loved about weddings: music, travel, food, family, design, fashion, and the shivery thrill of planning a grand event. Marriage? It means more to us than weddings do. We wouldn’t create wedding projects or stylized shoots; lots of other sites are great for that. Rather, we’d offer concrete, cool ideas that were more text- than photo-based. We don’t just show you weddings; we talk about them. A lot.
Is this ambitious? Perhaps. But we think you like talking about weddings just as much as we do.
